Student Finance Centre
Information for University Staff
We are proud to have achieved the matrix standard in 2009, which is a quality framework for the delivery of information, advice and guidance. Our team of experienced, qualified and dedicated staff support students through the provision of:
- Funding information about maintenance loans, maintenance grants, bursaries and tuition fee loans
- Debt management advice
- State benefits and tax credits entitlement advice
- Budgeting advice
- A range of workshops and events to help students manage their finances
- A dedicated Student Finance Centre website
If any students are considering withdrawing, repeating, transferring or suspending their studies, please encourage them to come and see us to discuss the financial implications of any decision.
Administration of hardship funds
If a student is experiencing genuine financial hardship, please encourage them to contact us. As well as assessing their situation, we’ll ensure they are receiving all the support they are entitled to. They may be eligible for a non-repayable grant from the following funds:
- Access to Learning Fund (ALF)
- The University of Portsmouth Student Support Fund (UoPSSF)
- International and EU Emergency Hardship Fund
Our leaflet Funding for students in financial hardship provides more information. Application forms are available from the Forms and guides section of this website.
Finance talks and workshops
We run a series of workshops throughout the year, and are available to give finance presentations during induction week. Please contact us for more information.
