Before becoming an academic I worked in the public sector as a strategy adviser and crime analyst in Portsmouth. Prior to my appointment as a lecturer I gained economic impact analysis experience as a Research Assistant and taught economics at the International College Portsmouth.
I teach on various undergraduate economic courses. As well as co-ordinating the first year Macroeconomics unit, I also teach on the second year International Economics unit and represent the Economics department at school liaison activities.
The practical application of Economic Impact Assessments (EIA) to uncover the direct, indirect and induced impacts of events, festivals and institutions is an area of research that I specialise in.
Another research interest is in the cross-disciplinary field of economics and crime prevention (Community Safety). Through my PhD research I address the issues of youth crime, drug use and dealing, anti-social behaviour, fear and the supporting of vulnerable people in the community.
