Your University of Portsmouth experience

Applying for a university in the UK was not the easiest decision I have had to make. However, choosing the University of Portsmouth, among other universities, is the best decision I have made to develop as an academic and researcher.

The University of Portsmouth happens to be the top institution in the field of Forensic Accounting and I was so excited to study here by just reading the details of the modules offered on the course – it was that simple. Also, I was able to network with those in academia, practitioners and regulators in my field through the annual Counter-Fraud Conference and the University of Portsmouth happens to be the sole host of the conference in the UK.

The facilities provided to fulfil my academic demands are top-notch and the support from academic and non-academic staff is second to none. Prior to coming to the UK, I was not familiar with writing essays, however, my academic English has improved tremendously through the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) tutorials organised within the University.

Furthermore, I have been able to build a sound working relationship with my personal tutor and this has helped with the amazing results I have had since joining the University. For me, the University of Portsmouth is more than just a tertiary institution - it is also a family.

What makes Portsmouth unique?

The local residents are very friendly and it is a city with a lot of historical heritage. It is very affordable for me to live here and commuting from one place to the other is easy to undertake.

The seafront offers me a place to refresh myself and to have time for meditation when necessary.

Your extra-curricular activities

I play football for a local team in the Solent Churches League and I also volunteer as a member of a faith-based society in the Students Union.

Sometimes, I travel across the UK to visit friends to share their experiences in the UK.
