Entry Requirements

We are happy to consider overseas applications on a case by case basis. As a general guide:

Undergraduate:

Świadectwo Dojrzałości or Matura, A Levels or the International Baccalaureate are accepted for Year 1 entry onto our undergraduate programmes. Depending on the chosen course, students generally need to achieve a score of 70% in the Swiadectwo Dojrzalosci or Matura.

Postgraduate:

A Bachelors degree is required for entry onto a postgraduate programme. We would consider a score of 4 or 4+, depending on the chosen course. For entry onto our MBA International, students will also need at least 3 years relevant work experience after graduation in a managerial or supervisory capacity. Work experience is also required for several other postgraduate courses and many courses will require you to have studied relevant subjects. Please visit Courses and go to the specific page for the course you are interested in for more details.

PhD:

Students holding a good Masters Degree will be considered for PhD study upon submission of a research proposal. Please visit our Graduate School pages for information on specific areas of research.

English Language requirements:

We accept IELTS, TOEFL, IGCSE and several other certificates. The required score will depend on your level of entry and your chosen course. Please visit English language requirements for more details. We offer Pre-sessional English language programmes for applicants who do not yet meet the required English level for entry onto our degree courses.

We accept Świadectwo Dojrzałości or Matura English in lieu of IELTS. Applicants will need to achieve a minimum score of 65% (as an equivalent to IELTS 6.0) or 75% (as an equivalent to IELTS 6.5-7.0). Please note that this will vary depending on your chosen course.

Polish Student Experience

"I am more than happy that I have chosen to study at the University of Portsmouth. For the first time in my academic and professional career, I have full and open access to traditional and digital graphic design mediums, including screen printing, XVIII century letterpress, fabric print, risograph as well as large format graphic tablets, printers and laser cut devices.

What I love the most about my course is that it is very self-development orientated, encouraging you to conduct your own research and getting to know your professional identity under the extremely helpful supervision of tutors that are genuine masters in their fields and have a real passion for teaching students.

What surprised me was the extra-curricular offer that engages you in University life and offers a lot of fun as well as support. I try to make the most out of it by attending well-being workshops, being a member of University Societies or enjoying social events."
