Requesting Books from Stock (UK addresses only)
If you are a Distance Learner, we can despatch books we hold in stock to UK addresses by post. Delivery times will depend on overall demand. Requests are dealt with in strict order of arrival.
Books are normally despatched as due back after four weeks for our 4 week loan items or after 14 days for our 7 day loan items (we add some extra days to allow for postage out to you). At times of peak demand this may be shortened to 7 days: we will email you if your loan needs to be returned early and your co-operation is requested to ensure an equitable service to all our users.
Please submit your request using the online request form.
Books from stock are posted out to you free of charge on the understanding that you are responsible for their safe return. We recommend you return books by Special Delivery or ParcelForce 48 as this provides proof of postage and cover for any items lost in the post.
Please address the parcel to:

Important warnings
- Do not use the reserve button in the catalogue unless you check your university e-mail regularly and are able to call and collect material from us within a week. Instead use the request form.
- Using this service means you must allow for the time it takes to deliver items. If you are working to a tight deadline please contact your Faculty Librarian or Subject Enquiry Team for advice on possible alternatives.
- Our form of delivery requires a signature so you may need to collect books if no-one is available to sign for them. We will however deliver to any address you nominate on your request form.
If you have questions or queries about this service please contact the Distance Learning Document Delivery Service Email: distlib@port.ac.uk, Tel: +44 (0)23 9284 3210
