Your Campus Card
Current Card
Card pre-April 2012

It is essential that you have a campus card as it identifies you as a University of Portsmouth student.
- it serves as your library card which which on campus gives access to the library building
- it proves your identity as a registered University of Portsmouth student to other libraries
- it may entitle you to student discounts elsewhere.
- it carries a permanent reminder of your student and library numbers. Your library number is used as proof of identity when applying for document delivery and when renewing books onlline.
On Campus Cards issued after April 2012, your library number is in the box in the bottom left corner. On Campus Cards issued prior to April 2012, the library number is printed along the right hand edge, beneath the bar code.
New students for academic year 2012/13 should apply for a campus card using the online system by Sept. 7th 2012. You will receive your card during enrolment.
** You must bring your Campus Card when you visit the Library **
As a registered library user, you will be allowed only one cardless visit to the Library each academic session (August – July each year).
This cardless visit is offered at any time that the Library staff are on duty (i.e. 0900 – 2100 Mon – Fri, 1000 – 1600 Sat – Sun during term-time).
Please do ensure that you bring your campus card with you on your next visit: failure to bring your campus card will mean that you will not be able to enter the Library or the Open Access area. You should carry your campus card with you at all times whilst on University premises.
If you have lost your campus card, you will need to get a replacement copy as soon as possible. Please see the 'frequently asked questions' for guidance on how to get a replacement campus card.
Distance Learners
Distance Learners should apply for a card using the online system. Once processed, your card will be sent out to you by your teaching department. If there is any problem with your card, or you do not receive one, please contact your department in the first instance - they will advise you what (if anything) you need to do next.
Please note that library registration and its associated benefits are available to students registered with the University and on certain collaborative programmes only. Unfortunately we cannot offer access to all our collaborative partner students.
Part-time and Placement Students
You need to join the library as per the instructions on our Library Membership page.
Replacement Cards or Other Problems
Should you lose or damage your card, you can request a replacement. There is a charge for this service. Information Services provide a comprehensive page of Campus Card issues and solutions.
