Ground Floor

The ground floor enquiries desk is staffed longer than the other enquiry desks. During term time, it is open 9 am – 9 pm from Monday to Friday and 10 am – 4 pm at weekends. Please feel free to ask about Library services.
The ground floor enquiry desk also handles all enquiries about interlibrary loans. If staff cannot answer your question directly they may need to refer you to the faculty librarian for your subject. Various leaflets to help you with your studies are available for you to pick up as well.
Nearby are the English daily newspapers, general reference works, and some Library catalogue computers. There are two areas on the ground floor with PCs together with quick access computer terminals for checking emails and printing work. You may also connect wirelessly to the University computer network using your own laptop.
The books and journals for Science and Technology may be found on the ground floor. The Science faculty librarian and the Technology faculty librarian have offices on this floor.
The Library operates a zoning system, where different spaces within the Library are designated group, quiet and silent study areas. Apart from the Atrium, the ground floor is a quiet study zone. A large social study space is available in 3rd Space in the Students’ Union building, next door.
