ebrary Bookshelf

Using the Bookshelf? Make sure you record your identity and keep it safe.

ebrary offers you the ebrary Bookshelf where you can keep books that you are working on, highlighting parts of texts and making notes. This is all stored by ebrary not the University.

The identity (id) they give you is generated randomly by your login details and is only known to yourself.

This login can be seen on the ebrary screen when you login:

EbraryBookshelf

The Library recommends that you make a note of this “Signed in as” id so that any problems with it can be resolved easily. Without knowing this id it is impossible for Ebrary to reconnect you to the work you have been doing.

In the past technical upgrades carried out by either ebrary or upgrades to our Shibboleth authentication system have resulted in a change of ID being generated. Only those who have stored their old id have been able to gain access to their previous work.
