Map Library Services and Facilities
Large Format Printing
The Map Library has an HP Designjet colour inkjet printer that can produce professional quality output in colour or black & white at standard paper sizes up to A0. This printer is primarily for the output of digital map data, including that downloaded from the Digimap Ordnance Survey Collection. However, it may also be used for other output such as poster printing, at the discretion of Map Library staff. A PC is provided in the Map Library, from which you can generate and print your map data.
Please supply any work to be printed on a USB flash drive.
- The printing charges are:
- A0 ....... £10.00
- A1 ....... £7.00
- A2 ....... £5.00
- A3 ....... £4.00
- A4 ....... £3.00
These charges are debited from your printing account, so please make sure that you have topped up your account by visiting http://myprint.port.ac.uk or by using the blue cash kiosks in the Library Open Access Area, beside the IS Support Desk.
Large Format Scanning

Large Format Photocopying
The Map Library has an Aarque 615 plan copier for 1:1 black & white reproduction of maps, plans, or any other original up to a maximum width of 915 mm and a maximum thickness of 3 mm. This machine is operated by map library staff and copies are produced on white bond paper, although copies onto tracing paper (up to A1) can be made on request.

- A0 ....... £2.00
- A1 ....... £1.50
- A2 ....... £1.00
Students should note that payment for large format photocopying is by cash only. Printing and photocopying can be undertaken for staff upon receipt of a departmental cost code.
N.B Map Library staff will only copy material if it complies with copyright law.

Photocopying maps
The CLA agreement does not permit staff or students to copy maps or charts. However, the University does have a licence to reproduce Ordnance Survey maps for educational, research or teaching purposes. Additionally, the British Geological Survey gives non-exclusive permission to reproduce free of charge any BGS map extracts and cross-sections from any BGS published academic papers, books, reports, guides or maps for personal, academic, educational, non-commercial research or other non-commercial uses and subject to appropriate acknowledgement. Map Library staff can provide advice about the appropriate acknowledgement required on copies of both OS and BGS mapping.
