Travels with a Library Assistant
Nina Clough, Library Assistant, University Library
15 September 2008 –7 January 2009
Watercolours inspired by the buildings Nina encounters on her travels to Paris, Prague, Riga, Edinburgh and Dublin, accompanied by her ink, paints and brushes.
"The illustrations in this display are inspired by the interesting architecture I have encountered during my holidays. Working from my photographs, I try to bring out the character and atmosphere of the places I visit. I am drawn to lines, colours, shapes and patterns and particularly enjoy painting chimneys, windows and bricks! The cityscapes include Paris, Prague, Riga, Edinburgh and Dublin. I work in ink and gouache mainly because I love the *happy accidents* when ink meets water."
