We suggest the following websites as a useful starting point for Hospitality Tourism and Leisure students.

• World Tourism Organization
  Not as much free information here as you might hope but under online services you will find Lextour, a database of links to country legal and regulatory institutions, and Touristerm, part-glossary, part-translation aid for terms in tourism
• Food and Drink Federation : FDF
  website offers information such Food and Drinks’s contribution to the economy. Look under Industry and Food Sectors and Foodservice to find a very useful Out of Home section with market data and an excellent set of links to Foodservice and Leisure and Tourism organizations
• Foodlaw-Reading
  a continuously updated site with links to UK and EU legislation and news on food and food safety
• Hospitality Net
  Essentially a USA site for the hospitality industry, you can find some European market reports here and sign up for a free daily newsletter
• Locum destination review
  This is not strictly a journal being from a firm of consultants but has interesting short articles and thought-pieces from in-house and guest contributors. Issues tend to be themed – recent issues covered Olympics and purpose-built resorts
• People 1st/
  is the sector skills council for hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism. You can find lots of free case studies, industry profiles and “state of the nation” reports on the industry if you register.
• SPRIG
  an organization which promotes information resources in Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure. Look here under GUIDES to find a series of documents with descriptions and links to useful websites
