French, German, Italian & Spanish - Suggested Databases

The following databases are suggested as good starting points for finding European Studies materials. This list is not exhaustive, and you may find other databases more suited to your needs.

• EBSCO
  covers lots of subject areas so often good for a quick starting point
• Linguistics And Language Behavior Abstracts
  the best place to find detailed articles and chapters for linguistics, language learning/teaching and translation
• JSTOR
  a journal archive containing thousands of articles relevant to SLAS students
• Persée
  a key source of articles in French on...other social science areas. 'Revues scientifiques' is the French term for academic journals - just click that link if you want an alphabetical list of the journals available

Useful Databases for Dissertation Work

• Alpe
  A database of articles about Latin America which have appeared in the Spanish press from 1993 onwards. El País, ABC and El Mundo are the main papers covered.
• Compludoc
  articles published in a wide range of mostly Spanish journals. Most articles date from 1997 onwards, although some coverage is from 1940.
• Karlsruher Virtueller Katalog
  search German and Austrian Library catalogues in one go (also contains links to Italian libraries)
• REBIUN
  search all Spanish University Library catalogues in one go
• SUDOC
  search all French University Library catalogues in one go
