- Business source premier
- Good place to search for articles from professional journals not found on Google Scholar as well as academic articles. Click on the peer-reviewed button if you only want academic articles.
- Science direct
- in spite of its name, this database has thousands of articles on business and management topics
- Emerald fulltext
- Emerald is very strong in HR. All journals are from the same publisher. Best results found if you do an advanced search. There you can also choose to search just for case studies or literature reviews.
- Click on Journal of the Week for free weekly access to two of Emerald's journals.
- XpertHR
- This database is intended for practitioners so you will not find a lot of academic or theory content, but there is a huge amount of information on policy and good practice. Includes employment law information, line manager briefings, articles, case studies, etc.

- PsycInfo
- This is a psychology database, but could be useful if you are looking at issues in occupational psychology such as motivation, organizational commitment, job satisfaction or employee attitudes

- the professional body for HR managers. Some content is restricted to members but there are useful factsheets giving overviews and suggestions for further reading and surveys on labour market and HR outsourcing trends
- ACAS [Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service]
- Advice, codes of practice information, some free publications or summaries
- Society for Human Resource Management
- USA professional body – much of the content is only available to members but there are free overviews of HR topics, some glossaries, webcasts and research reports

- "the leading forum for debate and understanding of employment law and its application" – downloadable papers on topics in industrial and employment law
