Sociology - Suggested Databases

The following databases are suggested as good starting points for finding Sociology materials. This list is not exhaustive, and you may find other databases more suited to your needs.

  • EBSCO
    wide subject coverage so can be a quick starting point for up-to-date articles
  • IBSS
    a key social science database which is useful for many areas of Sociology
  • JSTOR
    a journal archive containing lots of articles for Sociology as well as other areas
  • Mass Observation
    archival material about daily life in Britain from 1937-1972
  • SocINDEX
    A key source for tracking down articles across the social sciences, including public administration - very strong on sociology and criminology topics
  • Sociological Abstracts
    one of the world’s leading sources of articles on Sociology
