Photographic workshops

The photographic workshops are based on the first floor of the Eldon Building (east). This area is essentially a teaching resource, mainly catering for timetabled groups of students. The facilities are available for more general use by students of all Art, Design and Media courses, and technical support is available.

Please note that an induction course is required for anyone wishing to access the photographic facilities. See your course leader for further information.

  • tripods
  • flash units
  • portable lighting - flash and tungsten - kits
  • reflectors
  • light meters

Some of this equipment is highly specialised and, as such, only available to students who have completed a full induction.

Equipment is usually borrowed on a 24 hour (weekend) basis but longer loan periods can be negotiated and all loans are subject to production of a valid student card.  As a loan store we are included in the Faculty 'one-strike' policy for equipment that is not returned on the agreed date/time.

We strongly recommend prior booking of equipment as we have limited resources and demand can be extremely high.

Please also note that if you are planning to take any of our equipment abroad, whether for an official University trip or a personal one, we require proof of insurance before collection.
