"Welcome to the website for students at the University of Portsmouth."
The following information is aimed at helping students to choose the Italian university that will most benefit their future learning and career and seeks to provide up-to-date information on courses and how to find accommodation. However, it is worth remembering that, whereas the contacts provided here have been found useful by previous students, there are many more options you could explore, since the responsibility of finding accommodation is yours. Courses taught in Italian universities linked with Portsmouth vary from year to year. For further details on courses offered, please read on.
On a practical level, make sure you register with the local Police Station. Often, there are two different places where to register, one for non-EU and the other for EU citizens. Make sure you go to the right one to avoid disappointment and long queues.
Some Italian courses may need you to attend more hours per week than in Portsmouth, so expect a heavier timetable in order to accumulate a sufficient amount of credits. Please check with your Link Tutor at Portsmouth if in doubt. The higher attendance requirement may cause timetable clashes. If this is the case, you must speak to your Italian lecturers. Some are more flexible about attendance requirements than others.
Take the trouble to check the websites of the universities you are interested in before taking a decision about where to go on your Year Abroad. Part of the excitement and value of the Year Abroad is in acquiring skills like negotiating in a foreign language and using your initiative.
The requirements and assessments for the Year Abroad can be found in Victory
