This lecture reviews tsunamis impacting the coasts of the United Kingdom during the past 12000 years, highlighting the 1755 Tsunami, caused by a submarine earthquake off Portugal and the Storegga Tsunami, caused by a giant submarine landslide off Norway 8000 years ago. The causes of these and the prospect of future UK tsunamis will be examined. This event is organised in partnership with the Royal Geographical Society Southern Region.
Admission is free but by ticket only from Eventbrite.
