As of 1 July 2007, smoking in any enclosed communal area is now illegal and you could be subject to disciplinary action if you do so. This includes shared kitchens, TV lounges, corridors, hallways, stairs, podiums and courtyards. You may only smoke in designated study rooms, if you have requested this type of room on your application form.
In the event that the telephone network is down, you can contact the Security Lodge for assistance via the emergency call points located in each hall by the front entrances.
