We are delighted that you have made the decision to live in University accommodation. We hope you will find our Halls an excellent place in which to live whether you are an undergraduate or postgraduate student.

You will find in these webpages all the information you need to Move in as well as to Move out of Halls of Residence.

Moving in to Halls

E-intro

If you are already living in Halls then you should have completed your e-intro.  If this is not the case then you must do so by using the log-in information provided by Student Housing in your room allocation letter. 

To complete your e-intro or to refresh your memory of the modules it contains, log in to  www.port.ac.uk/eintrologin.

Contract

You will have signed your accommodation contractual agreement when you registered at Halls. 

Remember that it is a legally binding document. All the terms and conditions are contained in your Halls of Residence Handbook 2012/13.

Online inventory

You must check and complete your online inventory to ensure you will not be charged for pre-existing damages and defects when you move out of Halls.  Do not assume everything in your accommodation is all right. When you move out of Halls you will be charged for any damages or defects not recorded on your arrival inventory.

You have up to 10 days from the start of your accommodation contract to complete your online inventory. Once this date is passed your inventory will be locked and the condition of equipment and fabric of the flat/room will be taken as stated. You will not be able to make any changes.

You will receive an email in your University Google Mail account soon after your arrival to remind you to submit your online inventory and instructions on how to complete it. If you do not receive the email, you can still register for and view your inventory online at http://onlineinventory.portsmouth.induction.org.uk/student.

Your log-in details are:

  • Username:  Your University of Portsmouth student ID number
  • Password:  Chosen by you when you first log in to submit your inventory.  If you cannot remember it, please use the forgotten password option.

Insurance

You have cover supplied by Endsleigh Insurance as part of your Halls rent: see download. You can find more information in your Halls of Residence Handbook.

There are certain items that are not covered for exampleany items lost or stolen outside of your room, accidental damage, bicycles, individual more expensive items, and so on.  For more information and to get a quote for these extra items, please go to Endsleigh extra items.

Conduct: A Shared Charter

The University’s Student Charter explains the commitment you can expect from us and your own responsibilities to the University community.

General Hall regulations and disciplinary procedures outlined in Halls of Residence Handbook are in line with and operated in conjunction with the University’s Code of Student Behaviour policy providing disciplinary and appeals procedure for misconduct.

Please note: 'Code of Student Behaviour' has been updated, references in Halls documentation 2012 refer to these policies and procedures as ‘University Handbook of Student Regulations.’
