Halls maintenance staff are authorised to enter rooms/suites to respond to submitted maintenance requests and attend emergency repairs.
Repairs cannot be scheduled at the student's convenience. You are not required to be present during the repair work, unless requested by the maintenance staff (for example, to provide a more detailed account of the problem).
Our maintenance staff will ring or knock at your door to check whether you are in the room before entering. All Halls of Residence maintenance staff carry identification with them. Please do not hesitate to ask Halls maintenance staff to identify themselves.
If Halls maintenance staff receive no answer when they call at your door, they will use a key to enter your room and proceed with the repair and/or maintenance.
For health and safety reasons, you may be required to wait outside your room while any repair is being carried out.
Halls staff will strive to provide you with a minimum of 24 hours' notice before the start of any planned maintenance work.
