Staff Directory

Halls of residence staff will ensure that your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.  Contact them if you need help or advice.

Guildhall Halls

Reception

Our porters, receptionists and Hall supervisors share the responsibility for staffing receptions and offer the following services:

  • general information
  • reporting maintenance problems
  • signing in guests
  • buying phone cards
  • collecting parcels (only when you provide your Halls ID card)
  • help in using the fax facility

Main reception

The main reception for Guildhall Halls is located at Bateson Hall.

Opening hours
Monday to Friday: 8.30am to 7.00pm
Saturday: 9.00am to 2.00pm and 4.30pm to 5.30pm
Sunday : 11.00am to 2.00pm and 4.30pm to 5.30pm

Bank holidays
Outside these hours the telephone is transferred to the central Help Desk located at the University Security Lodge, behind University House. Please contact Security Lodge only for urgent issues and wait for your reception to re-open for general services.

James Watson Hall reception

James Watson Hall reception has limited services.
T: 023 9284 5915.

Opening hours
Monday to Friday:  8.30am to 4.30pm (3.30pm on Fridays)
Saturday and Sunday:  Closed. Please contact Bateson Hall reception.

Maintenance Team

The Maintenance Team is responsible for all aspects of maintenance in your room or communal areas and also for producing and serving letters for damages and monitoring repair or replacement of defects.  The Maintenance Team’s office is located next to reception in Bateson Hall.

Services Management Team

Assistant Hall Manager Operations: Kim Bean
Kim is responsible for all Hall porters, reception and delivery of mail. If you have any problems with service-related issues, please contact reception in the first instance. Kim's office is located in the administration suite in Bateson Hall.

Julie Barrett Assistant Hall Manager (accommodation) Guildhall Halls Assistant Hall Manager Accommodation: Julie Barrett
Julie is responsible for furniture/fittings in your room and communal areas and for ensuring study rooms and communal areas are kept in a reasonable standard of cleanliness. If you have any problems with accommodation service-related issues, please contact reception in the first instance. Julie's office is located next to reception in Bateson Hall.

As Hall Manager, Peter has the overall responsibility of the management of all facilities, maintenance and servicing issues within the Hall.

If you have any concerns, please first contact the Services Management Team (Kim and Julie). However, if you feel your concerns have not been addressed, please make an appointment at your Hall reception to talk to Peter.

 

 


Rees Hall and Burrell House

Reception

Saturday and Sunday: 7.00am. to 7.00pm

Please note that our Porters Team operate a reduced reception service Monday to Friday from 5.00pm and at weekends. Outside these hours all telephone calls are transferred to the central Help Desk located at the University Security Lodge, behind University House.
