Student Watch
Student Watch is a Hampshire Constabulary initiative open to all University of Portsmouth students as a volunteering opportunity.
By joining Student Watch you will help make Portsmouth an even safer city and improve community cohesion, plus it will be a good volunteering experience to make your more employable.
What's Student Watch about?
You will be part of multi-agency initiatives using the power of volunteering to:
- tackle local issues or concerns
- improve the life of others and the city of Portsmouth
- help set up events and feedback on results
- help in keeping your peers safe
What's in for me?
You will develop your communication and interaction skills and you will also have plenty of opportunities to network with all sections of the community and many different organisations that support the scheme.
Once your volunteering hours are complete, you will receive a certificate of recognition and an employment reference.
What skills do I need?
- good knowledge of the University, student peers and University practices
- good communication skills
- willingness to work in a diverse environment
- the drive to improve the above skills
Will I receive any training?
Yes, you will receive training in
- Health and safety
- Risk assessment
Plus other specific training that you may need to help you in the role.
How much of my time will Student Watch take?
You will get involved in at least ten initiatives during your volunteering time.
