Developing a model of quality care in Saudi Arabian hospitals: a comparative study of patient experience in accredited and non-accredited hospitals
Many countries across the world are struggling to provide high quality in healthcare services to their citizens.
It has been increasingly recognized that approaches to quality of health care systems are pluralistic and it is important to take into account patients' perspectives alongside those of professionals and managers of care.
Several hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have undertaken formal accreditation from internationally-recognized quality standards boards. These standards, provided by various boards, act as a ‘benchmark’ for hospitals and demonstrate their commitment to standards of staff training and development, patient care and governance.
The focus of this study will be to analyze patient experience at both accredited and non-accredited hospitals in Saudi Arabia, to understand how the two differ and how the accreditation process may be used to improve overall patience experience in public sector hospitals across Saudi Arabia.
