PROJECT MANAGEMENT: METHODS, TECHNIQUES AND IMPLICATIONS IN SAUDI ARABIA

Thesis summary

Project managers globally manage similar projects but in different ways. The differences can be driven from cultural distinctions, project cost and domain, risks in the projects, criteria for measuring project success and project management success, project performance, and critical success factors. This research critically seeks to answer what methods, techniques and standards of project management exist in Saudi Arabia and explore whether these standards are actually used and/or to what extent. More specifically, this study is likely to show what kind of a relation exists between practice of project management techniques and the success of the projects in Saudi Arabia. The research will also shed light on the question, which is whether project management techniques and methods are influenced by certain factors? Using mixed research methods and collecting data in two phases from project managers in Saudi Arabia, the research employ both inductive and deductive approach in the different phases to investigate the research questions. In short, the research will impact theory and practice of project management.
