Analyzing the causes and impacts of project delay to medium scale projects in hardware engineering industry
This research program of study continues personal research and professional practice in the field of project management, particularly within the area of medium scale projects in hardware engineering industry.
A number of researches have been conducted by various scholars on success and failure of various types projects in software/IT industry. Most of these researches were focused more on software industry project and little attention has been paid to hardware industry. In fact, very little research has attempted to identify the factors behind the schedule slippage for failed medium scale hardware projects.
This has resulted in a significant gap in this area of research and my proposed work is intended to fulfill this research gap left by the academic community. This research will endeavor to identify a number of medium scale hardware project already delivered which had encountered delays (only in budget and schedule) and will also explore the impacts of these overrun projects. The critical research questions will eventually lead to the explanation of various factors which fostered the project delays.
