Research Synopsis

‘The demographic effects on career satisfaction and organisational commitment in the Banking Sector in an Arab context: A case-situated analysis’

This research is concerned with employees’ career satisfaction and organizational commitment. It focuses on the demographic effects on career satisfaction and organisational commitment, in the Banking Sector in Kuwait, an area that has so far received scant attention in the HRD literature but which is important for both academic understanding of these issues and practitioners concerned with career management. It will also introduce a new empirical research context (Kuwait with emphasis on the banking sector). This research will be quantitative in nature. Grounded in career theory and targeting a local conventional bank, it will address issues of career satisfaction and organisational commitment in the financial sector in Kuwait, which is an under-researched population. A questionnaire completed by full-time employees and presented in both Arabic and English will be used for data collection. The survey instrument is designed to make use of pre-validated scales. The analysis will provide new knowledge about the demographic effects on career satisfaction and organisational commitment by making use of a Structural Equation Modelling technique.
