I joined Portsmouth Business School in October 2015 after working as a teaching fellow in Cardiff University. My PhD thesis on collective memory and mnemonic politics received the best Critical Dissertation Award at the 2015 American Academy of Management in Vancouver. Previously, I worked as a change management consultant in the IT, Construction, and Education sector. I got my academic training at the LSE (MSc in Anthropology and Development) and Sharif University of Technology (MBA). This multidisciplinary background informs my academic role and shapes my research interests.
I have teaching expertise in Organisational Behaviour and Research Methods at undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
My research focuses on identification processes, symbolism and mnemonic practices, and the way they influence collective action, power relations, and social/organisational change. I am particularly interested in empirical research using ethnographic methods or discourse analysis techniques and theories, such as storytelling, rhetoric and psychoanalytic analysis. In the last few years, my research has been focused on the professionalization of Civil Society Organisations, where I investigated the impact of professionalization discourse on a medium sized British Charity. Currently, I am engaged with Yarikadeh, a network of management professionals and academics which offers training and coaching for social entrepreneurs in Iran. My research has been published in Tamara: Journal of critical organizational inquiry, Journal of organisational ethnography and best paper proceeding of academy of management.
