I joined Portsmouth Business School in July 2014 as a Lecturer in Organisation Studies. My research background is in areas of Organisation Studies and Corporate Sustainability. I graduated with a PhD from the Centre for Leadership Studies, University of Exeter in July 2014, and an MSc in Marketing from the University of Birmingham in 2009. Before moving to the UK, I worked as a managing consultant in China, gaining consultancy and cross-cultural management experience in the process. I also have a BSc in Business Administration from Donghua University (China Textile University, 2003-2007) in Shanghai, China.
Currently I am part of the teaching teams for unit ‘Leadership, Ethics, Governance and Sustainability’, ‘Cross-Cultural Awareness for Business’, ‘Managing People in Organisations’, and ‘Business Research Project’.
I am interested in the sociology of translation in contemporary organisations. It includes cultural understandings of Corporate Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and the dynamics of translating in process. I am also interested in the implications of Actor-Network Theory, Hermeneutics, and Confucian and Taoist representations of organising. I am particularly interested in ethnographic writing and visual methods. The title of my doctoral thesis is ‘The Great Vessel Rarely Completes: Translating Corporate Sustainability’.
