Who we are

Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD): We are one of the top Centres in the UK for CIPD accredited courses. These are offered at Diploma and Masters level and have a variety of study modes across the Business School. Specialism includes Human Resource Management and Human Resource Development, and our staff facilitate the Business School Business Education Research Group (BERG). Our staff members deliver on broad-based undergraduate courses and also HR specialist programmes. Almost all of our staff research and publish.  We are proud of the extensive range of leading textbooks produced by our staff in HR, Employment Relations and CIPD-related curricula.

Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM): Our staff provide input into all levels of courses for management, ethical leadership and people-related issues. Our successful block-release Masters in Leadership and Management is ideal for those returning to learning, and the recently developed Certificate and Diploma levels have work-based learning assessments.  Ethics and leadership are a core area for research and writing.

Organisation Behaviour: Our subject group has excellence in teaching and writing in the OB field, providing foundation knowledge for the softer side of business education, culture and change. We embrace the international nature of work and workplaces, combining HR and leadership specialities for global and virtual workplace environments.

Research Methods: As one of the most research active subject groups, we lead in much research methods delivery. This learning provides the base for dissertation study and deeper areas of scholarship. Our staff constantly upgrade their knowledge to keep abreast of data collection methods, methods of analysis and technological development in their own research, providing a strong base for practical and theory-driven guidance for students.
