CEMARE was a specialised research centre established in the early 1960s to promote research into marine resources, with an emphasis on the economic analysis of fisheries. CEMARE was formally closed in late 2014, with much of the centre’s remaining expertise incorporated into the Economics and Finance Subject Group of the University’s Business School. Research, knowledge services and PhD supervision in marine resource economics therefore continues to be a focus for a number of staff at Portsmouth Business School.
