Leadership Development through Coaching Interventions


Dr Yi-Ling Lai has nearly ten years consultancy and academic experience in talent management and leadership development. Before her postgraduate study in the U.K., she worked for a global talent management consulting firm, DDI Development Dimensions International, for 3 years (2006-2009). The main client service included behaviour-based assessment centre, 360 degree evaluation, work-related psychometric test and leadership development programmes (e.g. coaching).

Prior joining Portsmouth Business School, Dr Yi-Ling Lai completed her PhD in Occupational Psychology in University Surrey in 2015 and MA in HRD and Consulting in Lancaster University (2010). Her main research focus is to investigate effective elements for an effective coaching relationship towards better coaching outcomes.

Dr Yi-Ling Lai has been published a couple of journal papers and book chapter for development of evidence-based coaching. She is interested in applying the framework examined through her PhD study to facilitate organisations to develop their internal managerial coaching skills.
