SAP Next-Gen Innovation Lab Portsmouth launch events (Thursday 15th June, 2017 - Richmond Building)

This event is the first of several launch events planned for 2017-2018 to introduce companies to SAP innovations, and to our students who have experience using SAP software. A range of activities including InnoJams, design thinking workshops, public presentations and more will be run over the year, some intended purely for students, some for a student company combination, and some aimed at helping company employees learn what SAP offers in terms of the connected enterprise based on the Digital Core linked to add-on modules. A combination of SAP core applications and the SAP Digital Innovation system will be at the heart of what SAP Next-Gen Innovation Lab Portsmouth will explore.

PBS Impact Week: What corporate look for in applications for employment (Monday 16th October, 2017)

SAP's Thomas Hagermann will speak about what companies like SAP look for in an application for a placement and for a graduate role. He will speak about the additional elements like proper use of social networking, and what the workplace is really like in a talk that will also feature some elements of extra-curricular skills tuning using SAP Learning Hub, Thomas will speak about: "Internships, Social Networking, Relationship Building and the Realities of the workplace".

The Impact of Design Thinking on IQ: WeQ and Exploiting the Power of Teams (Wednesday 1st November, 2017)

Professor Ulrich Weinberg will speak about the design thinking methodology at the heart of proper team-based enquiry, discovery and analysis, and the need to develop skills in achieving more by focussing less on individual achievements and more on what we can get done as a team. Timed to coincide with the InnoJam that will explore SAP customer's set problem using design thinking, and with a company event currently in the planning, this public lecture/seminar will be riveting. Professor Weinberg is Professor of Design Thinking at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam Germany.

Experience SAP 2017: A visit to the SAP UKI Headquarters (Monday 13th November, 2017*)

A coach load of Portsmouth students will undertake design thinking workshops, and spend time in the 'Experience SAP' Centre at Clockhouse Place. The Centre is filled with exhibits that demonstrate how SAP connects people, companies and things through the SAP Digital Core and SAP Leonardo Digital Innovation System.
