Architecture - Erasmus
Designers learn by exploring the world around them. What better way to do this than alongside your studies?

Erasmus is the European Commission's educational programme that enables students to study or gain work experience in a different European country while completing a degree.

The School has a number of longstanding European partnerships all with top ranking schools of architecture and design. These partnerships provide opportunities for students and staff to exchange and collaborate across Europe.

There are many benefits to enhancing a degree with international participation, including the chance to learn another European language, understand the global context we live in, explore design from a different perspective and to experience life within a different culture.

Students can participate in the following ways:

Study abroad (incoming/outgoing students)

Every year the school welcomes students from our partner institutions and supports outgoing students planning undertake a study exchange. This opportunity is currently available to postgraduate students only. Outgoing students can undertake a semester of study with one of our ten Erasmus partners and incoming students can select from a rich range of postgraduate studio choices.

Work experience abroad

For students who wish to gain some practical work experience related to their studies, the Erasmus work placement scheme also offers internships abroad for a min of 3 months in any of the 33 countries involved in the Erasmus programme. This allows students to better understand the industry they’re interested in, while, also improving their language skills in a working environment.

This opportunity is available during the summer period between 2nd and 3rd year of the BA (Hons) degree in Architecture or the BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design course.

For general information about Erasmus, for both incoming and outgoing students, please visit the University's Study Abroad pages. Current students in the School of Architecture can find additional guidance on applying for Erasmus Exchanges and Placements in the Moodle Architecture Common Room, Erasmus section.
