Biography

Following an architectural education at Kingston University and Part 3 at Westminster Universities, I worked as a Practitioner in London for 20 years whilst engaged as a part-time lecturer at Kingston University.

From 1981 to 1997 I was sole principal of Tod Wakefield Architects, a London based practice engaged in one off houses, social housing and special needs projects.

I taught at the Portsmouth School of Architecture from 1995 and became Head of in 2001. I stood down as Head in 2012 and am enjoying reverting to Principal Lecturer.

Teaching Responsibilities

  • I continue to enjoy studio teaching at both at undergraduate and masters levels.
  • I teach a BA1 Architecture Studio and a M’Arch 1&2 studio with the Architecture Culture and Identity Team (ACI).
  • I supervise BA3 dissertations and I have recently led student study trips to Lisbon, Oporto and Helsinki and Amsterdam.

Research

I have recently worked with the School of Architecture Project Office and I am currently part supervisor of a KTP with local industry.

My research interests include Housing, Pedagogy and the ‘Virtual’ studio.
