Realising the vision

Web transformation

Transforming our digital presence on the web is fundamental to the delivery the University’s 2020 strategy, which seeks to address the increasingly competitive education environment and grow national and international interest in our University.

The new University website will communicate our strategic ambition, enable the University’s rebrand online and is crucial to delivering against our strategic objectives. We plan to transform our presence on the web by creating a compelling and exciting digital experience for all of our key stakeholders nationally and internationally.

We want to make the University website simple and intuitive to use and, importantly, meet the needs of the different types of users to showcase the fantastic opportunities the University offers.

This project is working hand in hand with the rebrand project and will deliver a new website that reflects more effectively what the University stands for today and our future ambitions globally.

The Web Transformation Project is being managed by the Department of Marketing and Communications, and is governed by a Project Board and formal Working Group made up of almost 30 user groups across the University. Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the University transforming the website?

With a changing landscape in the education sector, resulting in increased competition and other external challenges, we are focused on firmly establishing ourselves in this market. Digital is fundamental to our success and business goals.

What benefits will a new website bring to the University?

The current website was designed and launched in 2013, with a heavy focus on domestic undergraduate recruitment to courses. With the new strategy we are looking to engage and grow multiple external audiences so we meet our strategic objectives to grow in areas such as research and innovation services, industry engagement, international, reputation and awareness raising, postgraduate recruitment, continued professional development, degree apprenticeships, and the University’s extensive business services in the city and the region.

Will the existing layout and structure change?

We will undertake a detailed research and discovery phase, where we will explore our different audience needs and objectives by involving stakeholders from across the University, existing and also prospective students. As a result of these findings it is very likely the layout and structure of the website will change. Any changes we make will be comprehensively tested to ensure it meets the objectives of the project and reflects the feedback given during the research and discovery phase. A new platform will also be introduced with functionalities that will enhance search,  personalisation of user experience and the ability to undertake various types of transactions.
