Primary School Activity Sessions
Each year we deliver activity sessions to over 1,600 primary school children as part of UP for Juniors. Year 5 sessions are available to member schools and are offered anytime from October to March. The interactive session lasts one and three quarter hours. It is run by students and staff from the University and addresses misconceptions and key questions such as: What is university? Why do people go to university? Who can go to university?
The session aims to familiarise children with the vocabulary of higher education, inspire, make them aware of future opportunities and break down stereotypes.
UP for Juniors liaises with departments across the University to arrange bespoke requests on and off campus. These can be for member or non-member schools and depend on the availability of staff, time of year and resources. If you are seeking to arrange a subject specific activity please contact us with as much notice as possible. We will always pass on and follow up requests but may not always be able to provide an activity. To find out how we can help contact us.
Children loved the interactive voting and are now buzzing about the University! A very positive impact on their understanding of university life.
