Profile

My principle areas of research are post-1962 Algerian history, Algerian cinema and more broadly artistic production in post-independence Algeria. I am particularly interested in the relationship between cinema and history and language and cinema. I am currently Theatre Production Manager in School of Creative Arts, Film and Media.

Current Research Projects

Book project, co-authored with Dr Natalya Vince; “The Battle of Algiers”. In this book we will explore how Gillo Pontecovro's 1966 film, a classic of third worldist cinematography, fits into a broader story of post-1962 cultural production and the writing of a national narrative.
