Profile
I became a full-time lecturer in the School of Social, Historical and Literary Studies in 2004. My PhD was awarded in recognition of a programme of research entitled ‘Europe and the United States as Contending Perspectives in British Policy-Making’. My main research interests remain largely in the field of foreign policy. Currently I am working on an article to reflect the coalition government’s approach to Europe and to working in and with the European Union.

Current Research Projects
My current research focus is on the changing geopolitical environment and the role of Britain within it. The research seeks to determine, analyse and evaluate Britain’ s place in the international system by appraising the level at which British influence and status now resides. As such, it particularly sets out to examine and explore the so-called ‘special relationship’ between the UK and the US, the relationships forged with the newly rising powers, and where Britain stands within the EU, and in specific bilateral relationships with fellow European states.
