Dr. Jane Hailé, British national, Cambridge- trained social anthropologist has more than 30 years experience working in international development (UNICEF,UNDP,UNFPA) in Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, West Africa and the Middle East. Currently she is based in Brussels as an independent consultant working on gender, social development and human rights for the UN, the European Institutions, and bilateral donors. She has recently been appointed Visiting Fellow of the Centre for European and International Studies Research at the University of Portsmouth UKwhich represents a welcome re-entry into academic life after a very long absence.
She had previously studied the social and economic exchanges between monastic and lay communities in central Thailand, and this year is planning further studies in Thailand on gender, religion and social change.
