Professor  has been awarded a British Academy / Leverhulme Senior Research Fellowship, which will allow her to complete her monograph:

Russia on Display. Soviet and émigré publishing in 1920s Berlin: the illustrated reviews as showcases for the old and the new Russia.

There were only 7 Senior Research Fellowships and 1 Thank-Offering to Britain Fellowship available on this occasion, for which 113 applications were submitted, more than received in any recent year, giving a success rate of around 7%.

The University of Portsmouth has appointed a new visiting Professor to its Centre for European and International Studies Research.

, a leading international authority on French and European politics, socialism and Christian democracy, has had a close relationship with the university for the last 25 years.

Commenting on his new appointment he said: ?The University of Portsmouth and I go back a long way. It seemed natural when I retired from Cardiff to accept a visiting Professorship because I have followed the progress of the university with such pleasure. I have watched the Centre for European and International Studies Research go from strength to strength and I am delighted to now be part of this development.?

Tony Chafer, Professor of Contemporary French Area Studies, said: ?We feel very privileged that someone as prestigious as David has chosen to work with us and look forward to the positive impact his expertise will have on the Centre.?
