Research CV

Current Research Projects

My current research focuses on newly socially mobilised individuals and the security of their status. I intend to investigate the nature of current social and cultural mobilisation with predominant focus on individuals’ inherited and acquired cultural capital. My research assesses the relevance of meritocratic and current Government thought and action, in its attempts to oppose the slowing of social mobilisation. Consumer culture and its relevance in processes of mobilisation is also examined.

I am interested in consumer culture, more distinctly; individual and collective consumer tastes. I think that our aspirations and achievements in a meritocratic society may not necessarily involve commensurate methods of acquisition.
