Profile
I have recently started my PhD thesis under the working title: ‘The European Union and Norm Transfer: The European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) in Egypt’. Having graduated in European Studies and International Relations at the University of Portsmouth in 2006, this project will allow me to pursue and research my two main areas of interest: European Foreign Policy (EFP) and the Middle East. Specifically, this research will evaluate the objectives of ENP in Egypt and will attempt to identify and compare the levels of ‘normative diffusion’ in selected policy sectors. Informed by a constructivist approach, this project will attempt to substantiate the efficacy of policy methods and instruments while taking into account the potential of the EU to instigate change. The importance of Egypt as a major Middle Eastern player and key strategic European partner adds relevance to the research.
