CEMARE
CEMARE Library
The CEMARE Library houses a unique collection of material on fisheries economics which has been collected by staff since the inception of the Centre in the early 1960s. In recent years the collection has expanded in response to the increasing range of subject areas being researched and taught by staff to include: the economics, management and development of aquatic resources, especially:
- fisheries (both marine and freshwater)
- recreational fisheries
- coastal zone management
- aquaculture economics and management
- environmental management
- agricultural economics
Due to our two recent relocations it was necessary to reduce the collection to an extent, and to transfer some material to the University Library.
Access is also provided to a wide range of commercially available online databases, including Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts (ASFA). The CEMARE Library is a member of the European Association of Aquatic Sciences Libraries and Information Centres (EURASLIC), and the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and Information Centers (IAMSLIC).
The CEMARE Library collections benefit from a wide range of exchange agreements with like organisations, including the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO/UN), The WorldFish Center, Insitut Francais de Recherche pour l'Exploitation de la Mer (The French Institute for Research and Exploitation of the Sea) (IFREMER), and many others. In exchange these organisations receive copies of CEMARE Reports, Research Papers and Miscellaneous Publications, as appropriate.
Staff and students in the Centre also have access to the full range of library, technical and computing services offered by the University or Portsmouth.
