Introductions to Dickens on film

As part of the celebrations of Dickens' bicentennial, the University of Portsmouth's Centre for Studies in Literature has organised screenings of three films based on some of the Portsmouth-born writer's best-known work, each to be accompanied by appearances from lecturers from the English department. The films are:
- Nicholas Nickleby: 2 May 2012
with a discussion led by Dr Justin Smith and Dr Christopher Pittard - A Tale of Two Cities: 16 May 2012
with an introductory talk from Patricia Pulham - Great Expectations: 13 June 2012
with an introductory talk from Professor Sue Harper
Films will be screened in the Boathouse No.6 Cinema, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard at 7.30pm. (Screenings organised in association with the Portsmouth Film Society.)
