The London GIS
Our work on London has, at present, been more detailed than work elsewhere; as part of our early work we captured Sub-District level boundaries for London from the 1840s to 1920. This work was funded by the Centre for Metropolitan History as part of a grant from the Wellcome Trust. In addition we also created a point coverage of London hospitals and "dumb" coverages of the road network and the Thames to provide a clearer location for people viewing the maps.
All this work was done at 6 miles to the inch rather than our usual half inch scale. We also have boundaries for the Municipal Boroughs and are working on the parish boundaries at present. The map below shows the situation in 1920:
