Institute of Biomedical and Biomolecular Science (IBBS)
Head of Group: Professor Darek Gorecki MD PhD
Recent developments in biomedical sciences radically changed many previously accepted opinions and approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. A new branch based upon the analysis of the structure and function of genes and proteins - molecular medicine - has now become an important component of medical sciences.
The rapid development of molecular medicine techniques and their integration into everyday medical practice makes it difficult to imagine the 21st century biomedical scientists or physicians without, at least, a basic understanding of this subject.
In our laboratory we attempt integration of molecular and clinical research to study the mechanisms of human diseases.
Our laboratory is a member of the LARC Neuroscience Network as well as two large European grant projects: The Transchannel Neuroscience Network (TC2N) and The Peptide Research Network of Excellence (PeReNE).
