Research Assessment Exercise

In the RAE 2001, the Institute of Biomedical and Biomolecular Sciences was awarded grade 5 for the excellence of its research. 

In the RAE 2008, our reputation for high quality research was further enhanced when IBBS was rated in the top 3 English universities in Unit of Assessment 12. 85% of our research was recognised as being of international quality.

Indeed, the majority of our research (55%) was judged to be internationally excellent (3*) or world-leading (4*). Within the UK, IBBS is one of the largest research groups in this Unit of Assessment, with 36 academic staff submitted to the RAE.
