Points of Comparison

Compared to other work in this area, when other projects focus on autism they are significantly different to MEDIATE:

  • Little sophisticated analysis and understanding of autistic users.

  • Usually aimed at Asperger's and high end PAS.

  • Focus is on training to help PAS cope with the neuro-typical world.

  • Not interactive in relation to unique individual other than allowing choices through one of several pre-determined routes.

  • Indiviudal is either mainly static at keyboard or hindered by headsets and 'wearables'.

  • Do not attempt to enage in multimodal sensation, especially not vibration and touch.

Further Dissemination

  • Specialists - scientific, designers, artistic

    • Related research groups (with past interest and active knowledge)
ENORASI, GRAB, ITACTI, TIM, VICKIE, VISUAL

    • Wider research community.

  • Potential developers.

A clear picture on what can be developed from the project will be gained at the end of the first 24 months.

  • European autistic community.

    • First at three evaluation sites and then through local users to national associations.
    • Via the Autisme Europe LINK Magazine.
    • Inviting national facilitators to view work in the three design team locations.

  • Our main prioirty is dissemination to our actual users and this will be accomplished via a bespoke Intranet.
