alan thorne Alan Thorne was appointed as Associate Dean of Research (ADR) for the Faculty of Science on 1st August 2011. He is a Reader in Biochemistry and has spent almost his entire career here at the University. After completing his first degree in 1973 he stayed on in the Biophysics group as a PhD student and then as a Postdoc, before becoming a member of academic staff in 1991.
