PBS means Business

Financial Planning

We can advise you on creation of a Business Plan to support your investment plans. This may include us building you a model of your costs to create an accurate budget for future years. We can ensure accuracy by testing any model against previous actual results. We can then provide you with appropriate advice for the future by using the model to evaluate alternative policies and strategic decisions.

The way in which we might help you

We would collect information on your current costs, then interview staff to identify the drivers of variation in each. We can add a market researcher to create realistic projections of future demand if requested. We can combine both demand and costs in a simulation model using Excel and test it against results from previous years. The model can then be used to create well informed future plans.

Benefit

Support for decision making. Budget and business plans more firmly based on your business model.

Cost

Supervision of your staff  by the relevant University expert at cost of employment/hour. It may be possible to supplement this by free research time by a student, if time of year coincides with student availability as part of their studies.

Our expert in this area

Mike Page is our Professor of Accounting. His particular interest is in reducing risk. Richard Trafford's background is in valuing family businesses. His expertise includes advising on the creation of business plans.

Our track record of success

A financial model we created for a major DIY retailer revealed how important the number of their shops was on final profit figures. Another model for Hampshire County Council, to simulate availability of care home places, enabled greater clarity of policy to ensure sufficient places for a future of aging population. Havant Arts and Innovation Centre required a combination of market research and financial planning to create a business plan in support of a bid for funding.
